Spizz! Part Two
Velani moves toward the huddle of adventurers, recovered – slightly, from her brush with death.
Ungh. Thank you again, my long-lived friend. Seems I’ve managed to tax your healing abilities today, which are amazing might I add.
Velani eyes the corpses that could have had her company in the afterlife.
No sense letting the rest of the place know exactly where we are…I recommend we feed them to the beasts below. A full belly makes for a sleepy beast – in the event we should have to face them, I would rather them sated than hungry.
Spying the Goblin’s body across the pit, she asks –
Would someone slightly more agile than I be willing to collect the dearly departed over there as well?
Freggo, that new suit, well… suits you. Nice lines, very slimming. Wear it in good health!
Yes, Spizz, you’ve told us what we wanted to know, but that does not make up for stealing and kidnapping. All you have done is earned a quick death!
Jerking her hand up, eyes wide with anger, Velani lunges at the scrawny beast. The tip of her blade finds its mark and draws blood, but she stays her arm.
Unless… Unless you truly wish to atone. Dol Arrah commands that evil be destroyed where it stands, but also to bring light to the dark places. Will you shine? Or be snuffed out?
Spizz, eyes on stalks, gulps and looks suitably terrified.
The last part of the statement, the ‘brrrrrr’ is Spizz’s fear manifested – he’s clearly not sure what is out there, but some of it is bad – apparently.
Hey, this guy says that the Goblin that got away will warn someone named ‘Deadeye’, but if we’re quick and jump over these pits, we could get the drop on ‘Deadeye’. I say we press the attack now! We can go back and sift through the dead vermin we left there later, no offence Spizz
Spizz shrugs – some of his best friends are Goblin vermin.
Should we heal him? Take him with us?
If you really think he’ll behave, I suppose I can heal him.
The Deva stares hard at Spizz, the Goblin gulps – the Deva is also frightening it seems.
You turn on us, and that effort will be wasted. May Dol Arrah – not Maglubiyet – truly guide you now
Spizz nods, and is healed.
And with that the decision is made, the adventurers head on – attempt to catch Deadeye on the back foot.
The group quickly, and efficiently, filter across the first pit – a number of ropes are employed, and those crossing are further tied tight in case they fall.
Beyond the first pit the corridor continues on north to yet another pit, however there’s also a corridor half way along the length of passage to the west. A short corridor – it ends thirty feet in, at a pair of double doors.
But the adventurers are not going to be put off, particularly Kali – the big Shifter leads the way.
Kali moves to the second pit, doesn’t wait for the rope trick to be repeated, he swings across intending to drop lightly and quietly on the other side. However…
What Kali actually does is almost let slip the rope, resulting in him throwing himself forward towards safety, while half-screaming half-yelping – most unbecoming.
Kali stumbles beyond a corner in the corridor, the passage heads east, and directly in to a much larger chamber.
Ahead is a crypt, well lit by a large lantern perched on the top of one of the four sarcophagi within- each a solid stone object around about four feet high. The sarcophagi are not the problem however – the four Hobgoblins, two of which have just turned to observe his entrance, are most certainly the problem.
The Hobgoblins wear leather armour, tote light shields and have sheathed longswords, at present.
The two nearest snarl… and smile, causing others to turn to see.
Further in to the chamber Kali spots a Drake, the creature is some five feet long from the tip of its snout to the end of its tail – like some chunky compact crocodile, with an equally tooth-filled maw, the Drake sports a jagged crest from top to tail.
The creature hisses and flops its tail down upon the cold flagstone floor, then waddles forward.
No sign of Deadeye though… but that’s not the real concern.
The nearest Hobgoblin shouts, and points – at Kali…
The fight begins – with Kali the only one of the adventurers on the crypt side of the pit.
